Front axle / knuckle service (the big one)
If you’re seeing grease leaks near the front wheels or slinging on the inside of the tires, it’s time.
- Knuckle seals/wipers, bearings, and proper grease service
- Inspect birfields and related wear while you’re in there
- Bundle parts into a “front axle service kit” page later (great conversion)
Steering and suspension wear
Wandering steering and clunks usually come down to wear items that are straightforward to refresh.
- Tie rod ends / drag link ends and steering damper
- Suspension bushings and shocks
- Alignment after refresh
Brakes
High-mileage trucks often benefit from a full brake refresh.
- Pads/rotors and caliper condition
- Rubber brake lines if aged/cracked
- Brake fluid flush
Cooling system (preventive reliability)
Cooling maintenance is cheap insurance on older trucks.
- Hoses, thermostat, radiator condition
- Fan clutch performance
- Address leaks early
