Front axle / knuckle service (the big one)

If you’re seeing grease leaks near the front wheels or slinging on the inside of the tires, it’s time.

  • Knuckle seals/wipers, bearings, and proper grease service
  • Inspect birfields and related wear while you’re in there
  • Bundle parts into a “front axle service kit” page later (great conversion)

Steering and suspension wear

Wandering steering and clunks usually come down to wear items that are straightforward to refresh.

Brakes

High-mileage trucks often benefit from a full brake refresh.

  • Pads/rotors and caliper condition
  • Rubber brake lines if aged/cracked
  • Brake fluid flush

Cooling system (preventive reliability)

Cooling maintenance is cheap insurance on older trucks.
